This will give candidates an opportunity to reflect and think about their service rather than simply tallying their hours of service. The three different types of service are outlined below:
1. Group Service Activity
- This can be completed with the St. Francis youth group - Group activities like this will be advertised in the church bulletin, and at the kiosk in the Gathering Space. These events will be lead and organized by Matthew Edens, Youth Ministry Coordinator.
- Another option for Group Service is to participate in any group service activity through your high school, Confirmation Small Group, or Faith Formation Class.
- If you are not sure if something you’re doing would qualify, please check with Matthew Edens.
2. Service within St. Francis of Assisi Parish
- Any service activity done in conjunction with or benefiting St. Francis of Assisi Church and its parishioners.
- Any volunteer activity you read about in the bulletin can count as a Parish Activity. Some examples are: Fall Festival, Fall Rummage Sale, Alter Servers for Mass, Hospitality for Gathering Sunday, Teacher’s Aid for Faith Formation, cleaning the church or church grounds, etc.
- Contact Matthew if you would like ideas for other Parish Service opportunities.
3. Other Service Activity
- This can be similar to one of the other types of service, or something completely different.
- Some service opportunities that would be good possibilities are: the Sunday Lunch Program, helping in the Resource Room, Salvation Army, Channel One, 40 Days for Life, St. Vincent de Paul Society assistance
- Candidates can do this service by themselves or with a group.
